Félix Gibert

Sousaphone, trombone, tuba

Félix was bogged down in the muck of pointless philosophy studies when he saw the light through a thought by Deleuze: “Philosophy is about making concepts like one makes music.” So he left the university benches behind and decided to make music directly—figuring it would be far less boring.

His instrumental choices are guided by two passions: big shiny things and blowing into holes. Since disco balls, regrettably, are holeless, he gravitated instead toward the sousaphone, trombone, and tuba. He even received confirmation of his life choices from none other than Brice Hortefeux, who, after a riverside concert on the banks of the Allier, told him: “Well, that’s nice.”

Beyond his brass-blowing bravado, Félix is also a gifted composer—one of those rare types who can stir emotion and excitement in just a few notes. His talents shine in groups such as Ramdam Fatal (which he founded), Zibeline, and L’Orchestre en Or.

At ARFI, he’s a member of both La Marmite Infernale and Le Masque de Fer.
