Tela Sonora is a unique cine-concert combining electronic music with short animated films by Brazilian directors.

The composition work was carried out by artists Xavier Garcia and Jérôme Lopez, and is based on a dual approach (electronic and contemporary), incorporating sound and cultural elements from sound research, in connection with recordings of indigenous Brazilian chants.

The musicians come from complementary artistic worlds: Xavier Garcia, an improviser and composer of electronic, electroacoustic, and contemporary music; and Jérôme Lopez, trained in traditional percussion, with a passion for electronic music composition and field recordings.

The duo blends electronic music with works by composers considered "contemporary," aiming to confront the two styles and transcend these boundaries, which are often seen as insurmountable.

A second part of the project involves a series of video-toolbox workshops, a tool for live video and audio production. Led by Jérôme Lopez, these workshops offer an original artistic approach both in essence and form, engaging with a specific audience, population, or area. It is a crossover between sound and visual arts, collected narratives, and digital creation.

Tela Sonora is supported by the French Embassy in Brazil, the Institut Français, the City of Lyon, SPEDIDAM, and the Alliances Françaises in Brazil.

The ARFI collective is funded by the DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, the City of Lyon, SPEDIDAM, and SACEM.
