"To celebrate its thirtieth anniversary, the ARFI (Association for the Research of an Imaginary Folklore) presents an object that mirrors its spirit: generous, welcoming, inventive, and perfectly in tune with the times. It must be said that capturing all these years of creativity in every direction within the formatted and limited space of a CD was quite a challenge. Hence the idea of adding to a classic anthology a CD-ROM readable on any MP3-compatible player, filled to the brim with treasures previously unavailable on CD. The CD features eighteen tracks from some of the emblematic formations of ARFI's rebellious spirit (its engaged, playful, and light-hearted approach to music). A true treasure trove, the CD-ROM compiles precious material from no less than eight rare vinyls and CDs (including the founding albums of the Workshop of Lyon and the Marvelous Band, the two historical formations that initiated the adventure...), as well as a series of unreleased tracks, offering in total over seven hours of music, providing a comprehensive overview of the tumultuous history of the Lyon collective. Because this is the true success of this far-from-flat commemorative project: 'Maison fondée en 1977' offers, in fact, a real historical perspective, masterfully showcasing the ARFI's capacity to joyfully redefine its plural approach to music. In these times of standardization, this alternative conception of living art, based on improvisation and the generalized hybridization of genres, is more relevant than ever."
