Canto General is an epic poem in fifteen cantos by Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, composed starting in 1938.

Neruda tells the story of his land, the men and women who reveal it, the pleasures and beauty shared, and the tenderly revolutionary gazes, all within a world divided by the Cold War and oppressive regimes. It is a joyful work, and this joy perfectly aligns with the artistic team that is carrying this project forward. For our trio, the commitment goes beyond political demands, highlighting, in a sensitive and poetic way, paths of divergence, with music as the argument.

The musicians find a musical resonance in Neruda’s work, imagining a collection of songs or chants. It is a way to embrace a poetic and historical legacy, finding connections with our contemporary world. Perhaps we will find answers to the poet’s questions through time and space...

What will the Poles think of my hat,
a hundred years from now?
What will they say about my poetry,
those who have not touched my blood?
